Get a clean, modern ceiling with downlight installation in Oxford. We plan the layout, fit fire rated and IP rated downlights and add dimming where you want it.
Downlights look best set out in even rows, spaced to give an even spread of light without dark patches. As a rough guide, they sit around 1 to 1.5 metres apart in a typical room. We mark out the ceiling with you, avoiding joists and pipes, before we cut any holes.
More Information
Cutting holes in a ceiling can weaken its fire resistance, especially between floors in a house or flat. Fire rated downlights have a seal that closes off the hole in a fire, helping hold it back for longer. We use fire rated fittings wherever the ceiling needs them.
Bathroom downlights need a suitable IP rating to keep water out. Over a bath or shower, IP65 fittings are normally used. We check the zones in your bathroom, choose the right fittings and connect them to a circuit with RCD protection.

STILL NOT SURE?
It depends on the size of the room and the brightness of each light. A typical kitchen may need 6 to 10 downlights, while a small bathroom might need 3 or 4. We measure the room and work out a layout that gives even light without using more fittings than you need.
Yes. Ceilings with a room above usually need fire rated downlights to keep the fire resistance between floors. We check the joists and the space above, then cut neat holes between them. In some cases we lift a floorboard upstairs to run the cables more easily.
Yes. Most LED downlights come in dimmable versions. You need a dimmer switch made for LED loads, or the lights may flicker or buzz. We match the dimmer to the number and type of downlights so they dim smoothly from full brightness down to a low glow.
