Our lighting repair service in Oxford fixes lights that flicker, buzz, trip the power or have stopped working. We find the fault and put it right, from one fitting to a whole circuit.
Typical faults include lights that will not switch on, bulbs that blow often, buzzing switches, and circuits that trip when a light is turned on. Causes include loose connections, worn switches, failed drivers in LED fittings and damaged cable. Each needs a different fix, so we test before replacing anything.
More Information
If the power trips as soon as you turn on a light, there may be a short circuit in the fitting or a bulb failing as it switches on. Water getting into a fitting from a leak above is another cause. Turn the light off, reset the trip and call us if it happens again.
Some fittings are worth repairing, especially good quality or period lights. Others, like cheap LED panels with built in drivers, are often better replaced. We tell you which makes more sense for your fitting and, where we can, give you a clear price for both options.

Bulbs that blow often usually point to a loose connection in the lamp holder, a worn switch, or a fitting that runs too hot. Using bulbs above the fitting's rating can also do it. We test the fitting and switch, then repair or replace whatever is causing the problem.
If every light on one floor has gone off, first check the consumer unit for a tripped switch. If it will not reset, or nothing has tripped, there may be a loose connection or damaged cable somewhere on the circuit. We test the circuit to find the break and repair it.
It can be. A buzzing or crackling switch often means a loose connection or worn contacts, which can create heat. If the switch feels warm or smells of burning, turn the light off and stop using it. Call us and we will replace the switch and check the wiring behind it.
